Rare April storm blankets Bureau County
Residents in Bureau County were treated Sunday to a rare April snow that made it seem more like January than spring. The National Weather Service reported that although no measurable snow fell in Hennepin, Tiskilwa saw 4.5 inches and Princeton was blanketed with 8.5 inches. Totals throughout the Sauk Valley varied. Rock Falls officially had 1 inch of snow, Dixon had 2 inches, and Amboy clocked in with 5.5 inches. Heading east, the snow totals picked up with 7.5 inches in DeKalb. Chicago missed hitting the record snowfall for April by one-tenth of an inch. More seasonable weather returns to the Sauk Valley area this week, with temperatures in the upper 60s today through Thursday.
