The Sauk Valley reported eight elderly coronavirus deaths and 193 new cases Thursday.
Whiteside County announced four deaths, with two each in their 80s and 90s, as well as 88 new cases, with 14 younger than 20, 13 in their 20s, 12 in their 30s, eight in their 40s, 19 in their 50s, 12 in their 60s, seven in their 70s and four 80 or older.
Whiteside also had 40 new recoveries, and now totals 3,406, 63 deaths and 1,567 recoveries, with a positivity rate of 24.5%.
Lee County had a death in his or her 70s and 35 new cases, with one younger than 12, two teens, two in their 20s, six in their 30s, five in their 40s, three in their 50s, five in their 60s, six in their 70s, and two in their 80s. Three cases were from the outbreak at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center.
There were also 14 new recoveries. Lee County has had a total of 1,464 cases, six deaths and 876 recoveries.
Ogle County reported three deaths – one person each in their 60s, 80s and 90s – as well as 70 new cases. Ogle now totals 2,404 cases, 21 deaths and 1,836 recoveries.
Carroll County did not report updated numbers Thursday, and sits at 930 cases and 23 deaths.
The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and five days of hospital admission increases, a decrease in both metrics. The region's positivity rate decreased to 19.5%. Currently, 32% of medical/surgical beds are available and 35% of ICU beds.
Within the region, Lee County's rate increased to 17.2%, Whiteside County's rate dropped to 24.5%, and DeKalb County's positivity rate dropped to 14.8%,
Illinois announced 14,612 new cases and 168 deaths Thursday, for a total of 621,383 cases and 11,178 deaths.
