Sauk Valley reports 107 coronavirus cases Friday, additional death in Ogle County

The Sauk Valley reported 107 new coronavirus cases Friday and an additional death in Ogle County.

Whiteside County had 47 new cases with one younger than 20, eight in their 20s, four in their 30s, four in their 40s, six in their 50s, three in their 70s and 21 in their 80s as well as nine new recoveries for a total of 1,154 cases, 21 deaths and 757 recoveries.

Lee County had 10 new cases with one younger than 10, two in their teens, one in his or her 20s, two in their 30s, and four in their 40s, 50s, 70s and 80s with 11 recoveries totaling 567 cases, one death and 416 recoveries

Ogle County surpassed 1,000 cases with 23 new cases and a new death totaling 1,005 cases, seven deaths and 832 recoveries.

Carroll County reported 27 cases with five in their 20s, 11 in their 30s, two in their 40s, seven in their 50s, and two in their 60s and 90s totaling 353 cases and eight deaths.

Testing in the Sterling area totals 4,983 tests and 380 positive cases. Rock Falls has had 2,681 tests and 240 cases, and Dixon has had 6,483 tests and 373 cases.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen eight days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 10.3% to 10.6%, still the highest rate of any of the state's 11 regions. Currently, 31% of medical/surgical beds are available and 39% of ICU beds.

The North region (Region 1) is underadditional COVID-19 mitigation measuresfrom the IDPH as of Saturday, Oct. 3. If Region 1 continues to report positivity rates above 8%, further mitigation efforts may be taken. To return to the standard Phase 4 restrictions, the region will need to maintain an average positivity rate of less than or equal to 6.5% over a 14-day period.

The region's counties that are reporting the highest positivity rates are Jo Daviess (12.1%), Lee (12.1%), Winnebago (11.8%), and Boone (11.7%). DeKalb County's positivity rate fell to 8.1%, while Whiteside County's fell to 9.5%.

Illinois announced 4,554 new cases and 38 additional deaths totaling 336,174 cases and 9,165 deaths.
