ROCK FALLS – Authorities arrested and charged a pair of 20-year-olds Wednesday with felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Rock Falls.
Dallas B. Lopez of Rockford and Devin A. Fry of Sterling are each facing one count of unlawful possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony that carries a punishment of two to five years in prison.
An ISP trooper stopped Lopez's vehicle around 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 23, at the intersection of First Avenue and 19th Street, for a loud exhaust muffler, according to an Illinois State Police news release.
The trooper learned during the stop that Lopez and Fry were both in possession of methamphetamine.
Lopez was issued a citation for loud excessive noise, and arrested for possessing methamphetamine. He was arraigned in Whiteside County court Thursday and released on a personal recognizance bond of $10,000.
Fry was arrested on the same charge and for two active warrants — a failure to appear warrant in Lee County and a contempt of court warrant in Ogle County.
She was arraigned in Whiteside County court on Thursday and issued a personal recognizance bond of $10,000. She remains at Whiteside County Jail because of her two warrants.
Both Lopez and Fry have preliminary hearings scheduled for Oct. 26.
