DIXON – Awards for the 16th Farms & Barns art exhibition have been announced with eight local and regional artists recognized at The Next Picture Show.
Awards Judge Suzanne Shedosky, of Prophetstown, acknowledged the following artists for their entries:
Best of Show, Beverly Ashley Broyles of Rockford for her watercolor “Tennessee Barn;" first place to Bob Holmes of Millington, for the watercolor “Early Spring Day;" second place, Les Allen of Dixon for “Drawer of Keepsakes," traditional film-based photography; and third place to Richard Schmidt of Frankfort for his oil on canvas, “Round Barn.”
Honorable mentions were awarded to: Jayson Tuntland of La Moille, “Illuminated by Moonlight” a digital photograph on metal; Larry Bond of Sycamore, “Red Door/ Farm House,” watercolor; and Dick Cholke of Pecatonica,“Grandma's Mail,” a watercolor.
Farms & Barns features 82 original works of art, by 37 artists using acrylic, cut paper, digital photography, film photography, ink and watercolor wash, mixed media, oil, pastel, pencil, water-soluble graphite, watercolor, and woodcarving.
