Groovin' on a Sunday afternoon on the Rock River in Rock Falls

ROCK FALLS – The Rock River was the place to be on Sunday for the four-legged, the two-legged and even the two-winged.

Activity at the Sinnissippi Dam Walkway and Arduni Boat Launch near Rock Falls was brisk Sunday following several days of heat and humidity.

The day offered sunny skies and much-appreciated mild temperatures.

Allie Deyo and Cody Emery couldn’t get their boat in the water fast enough for their canine companions Frank, Belle, Charlie, and Max.

The four-legged foursome watched anxiously from the truck bed as Emery and Deyo got the boat into the water. Two of the dogs couldn’t wait and jumped into the river from the dock before they were called back to the boat and the six-some headed out for a day on the river.

Down a bit from the boat ramp, pelicans were busy cleaning and realigning feathers as they preened on rocks and logs while people on bikes pedaled by on the walkway.

Two double-crested cormorants and a pair of turtles joined the pelicans sunning themselves.
