Lee County delays penalties for late property tax payments

With COVID-19-induced hardships in mind, Lee County will give property owners a 30-day grace period in which to make their first property tax payment. The deadline is June 26, but late fees will be waived if it is paid or before July 26.

The deadline is June 26, but late fees will be waived if it is paid or before July 26.

Residents can pay via debit or credit card at leecountyil.com, by mail to the Lee County Treasurer, PO Box 328, Dixon, IL 61021, or in person at any bank in Amboy, Ashton, Dixon, Franklin Grove, Paw Paw, Sublette, and West Brooklyn, and people should bring the tax bill to the bank.

Those who prefer to pay in person at the old Lee County Courthouse, 112 E. Second St. can do so from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through a first floor window on the north side of the building.

The courthouse is closed to the public, and the doors are locked.
