Dixon gallery hosts Illinois Watercolor Society's national exhibit online this year

DIXON – Normally hosted by and at The Next Picture Show in May, the 36th annual Illinois Watercolor Society National Exhibit is an online exhibit this year. 

Steve Puttrich, presented awards with comments via a ZOOM feed on May 2. The presentation and exhibit is available at illinoiswatercolorsociety.org/gallery/iws-national-show-2020 and on The Next Picture Show's Facebook page

The event features 62 original works from artists across the U.S. and overseas, including TNPS member Larry Bond of Sycamore with his entry, “UFO.”

Winners are:

• Best of Show: "Touch of Light Snow on the Tibetan Plateau," by Dongfeng Li

• Award of Excellence I: "The Trolley Driver," by Allan Butt

• Award of Excellence II: "Not So Black and White," by Chris Krupinski

Award of Excellence III: "Rose of Sharon," by Lynda Pittman

Schultz Creative Spirit Award: "Flowers From My Garden," by Christine Alfery

Outstanding Figurative: "Too Many Choices," by Kelly Eddington

Outstanding Landscape: "Bridges At Sunset," by Peter Jablokow

Outstanding Abstract, Nonrepresentational: "House Colors," by Lisa Arnold Franklin

Strissel Memorial: "Sweet Autumn Clematis," by Diane Shabino

Works in the Honorable Mention category are: "Say AAAH!," by Dan Danielson; "Blushing Hydrangea," by Megan Ripke; "Hedgehog Aloe Blooms," by Prerana Kulkarni; "Daddy," by Jeannine Swartz; "Forget Me Not," by Thomas Herzberg; "Fastened," by "Denny Bond"; and "Keri and Allie Kayaking in Mykonos," by Lawrence Raffanti.
