Letters to the Editor

Believe in science not conspiracy

Well, first they said it’s a conspiracy, because the Democrats couldn’t take down Trump with his impeachment. Then they said it’s a hoax. Then they said only a few people will get sick. Now they are saying “What’s the fuss? Why do we have to stay home? There have been cases of flu before.”

Some are even willing to trade Grandma in for a better economy! Soon “some” may have nothing to say because it is spreading fast and “they” may even become victims.

SVM published a letter a couple of days ago that asked “Why such a dire response to the coronavirus?” Personally, I was shocked that you would publish a letter that goes against all the scientific information. I didn’t see an MD degree along with the name of the writer. We shouldn’t have false information being disseminated.

The writer also asked if the current administration would receive any kudos and deemed it unlikely.  Well, it’s not going to get any from me as I sit in my home sewing face masks to help with the shortage, along with a large group of sewers across the county. The richest country in the world and we have people at home using scrap pieces of material to make face masks?? And, they aren’t even the kind to protect against the virus. They will just help nurses to some degree and are “better than nothing.” “NOTHING,” that’s what we offer our brave health care workers?

I saw a scientist interviewed this morning who said when they began to hear of this new virus they alerted all countries to take action. I’ll leave it to you to guess which country did not do so.
