WHITESIDE DISTRICT 3 Five Republicans rise to the top of 7-man field

MORRISON – With all 22 precincts reporting, five men have risen to the top of the seven-man field in Tuesday’s GOP contest for Whiteside County Board District 3.

In preliminary results, the victors are Howard “Bud” Thompson with 690 votes, or 17.19 % of the 4,015 votes cast; Chad Weaver, with 668, or 16.4%; Mark Hamilton, 572 or 14.25%; Larry Russell, 557 or 13.87%; and finally, Charles Brown Jr., 521 or 12.98%.

Thompson and Russell are incumbents.

Incumbent Douglas E. Crandall garnered 508 votes, or $12.65%, while John Piersol won 499, or 12.3% in preliminary totals.

Voter turnout in this race was 8.7%.

The only Democratic candidate for District 3 is incumbent Cynthia Mead. The six of them will square off on Nov. 6.
