Elizabeth J. O’Brien

PRESCOTT, AZ – Elizabeth J. O’Brien, 94, died November 3, 2019, in Prescott, AZ.

She was born on June 18, 1925, in Dixon, the daughter of Edward P. and Mary (Henry) O’Brien. Elizabeth had graduated as a registered nurse from the last class of the Community General Hospital Nursing School and earned her Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Arizona. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and spent the remainder of her career with the Veterans Administration. She was a lifelong Roman Catholic. Elizabeth was well traveled, and had toured throughout the world to all continents except Antarctica.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020, at 10 a.m. in St. Flannen Catholic Church in Harmon, IL, with the Reverend Richard Kramer officiating. Burial with military honors will conclude at Holy Cross Cemetery in Harmon.

She was preceded in death by six sisters, Mabel Geiger, Florence Mason, Mary Hanson, Marcella Dempsey, Hazel Engels, and Loretta Fasanella; and four brothers, Joseph O’Brian, John O’Brien, Edward O’Brien, and Melvin O’Brien.
