Business Notebook: A bigger size for clothing store, a new Vibe and thrift shop brings the Love

Boutique on the move

DIXON – J Boutique will move soon, but not too far away.

The women's clothing and accessory store will relocate about 100 feet, to the northeast corner of Hennepin Avenue and First Street from 115 S. Hennepin.

An expanded inventory led to the need for a larger location, owner Jenny Koch said.

Koch, former United Way of Lee County executive director, opened the store 2 years ago and was the first business in the merged Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street's business incubator.

The goal is to open the new location during the last week of February, and have more shoe selections and gift items.

The hours will remain the same: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. They'll soon open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday in March.

Find J Boutique on Facebook, or go to jboutiqueil.com, email jboutique815@gmail.com or call 815-440-0733 for more information.

New 'do' for salon

FULTON – Vibe Beauty Bar has opened at 1703 10th Ave., formerly occupied by Shear Class.

Shelby Connell bought the salon from Megan Jones last week. She has been a stylist for 15 years, and has traveled throughout the nation educating stylists in Moroccan Oil products, which will be sold at the salon.

"We can bring the big trends from New York, Los Angeles and all of the bigger cities, and bring them all right here to our small town," she said.

Jones will continue to work under the new ownership.

"We are sincerely thankful for the opportunity to have been able to own Shear Class for the past 6 years, and to have served our communities, and for the relationships we have developed with our clients," Jones said on a Facebook post on her former business page.

The salon is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

it is in the former Pass It Along store, which closed Dec. 21 after 6 years. Zeman will maintain the old operation's mission of donating to scholarships for local organizations.
