Participants during the second Curls with Cops had a chance to train with an officer Saturday. The Community joined Sterling officers side-by-side in a series of High Intensity Interval Training exercises at Challand Middle School in Sterling. The officers talked about the training and conditioning required to become a police officer. Then the participants laced up their sneakers and took the floor to work on footwork, strength, and endurance in a variety of exercises – ropes, sledge hammer and weighted balls to name a few. HIIT Training uses short intervals of high intensity workouts with only a short rest time between the workouts. Participates had to run between the exercises which were spaced out in the gym and were allowed a short rest before starting each exercise.
