Dixon Veterans Day ceremony will move to theater in case of bad weather

DIXON – Organizers of the Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, 668 state Route 2, say that if the weather doesn’t cooperate Monday, they’ll move the ceremony to the Historic Dixon Theatre, 114 S. Galena Ave.

The forecast is calling for an arctic blast to drop the mercury – and some snow –ábeginning Sunday and continuing into Monday. Sunday night could bring 2 to 4 inches of snow, followed by flurries and temperatures in the 20s on Monday.

American Legion Post 12, VFW Post and the Dixon Marine Corps League are planning a service at 11 a.m. that will feature remarks by Army Sgt. Maj. William Lafferty, retired, of Dixon, the presentation of colors, and an opening and closing prayer by The Rev. Keith Romke of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon.

At noon, Post 12 will have an open house and luncheon at the hall, 1120 W. First St.
