DIXON – Members of the Lee County Republican Central Committee elected a new chairwoman to lead the party through the primary elections on March.
Jennifer Dallas, the committee treasurer, replaces former Chairman Matt Klahn, who stepped down in mid-October after being appointed a 15th Judicial Circuit associate judge.
“Jennifer is a proven leader and someone I leaned on a great deal in my duties as party chairperson,” Klahn said in a new release announcing the transition. “I have all the confidence in the world in Jennifer Dallas.”
Dallas is the first woman to lead the committee since it was formed in 1974. She will remain in the post until the local party convention this spring, which occurs after the March 17 primary.
“I look forward to this new role with the Lee County Republican Central Committee, and I am excited about the opportunities that are ahead with our strong local, state and national candidates,” she said in the release.
Dallas is a commercial relationship manager at Midland States Bank and the wife of retired Dixon school resource officer Mark Dallas; they have two children, Lauren and Joshua.
