DIXON – A Dixon veteran and Rock Falls attorney is making a run for state representative in the 90th District.
Democrat Seth Wiggins, an associate attorney at the Law Office of Allison B. Fagerman in Rock Falls, recently announced his candidacy for the seat now held by Tom Demmer, R-Dixon.
Wiggins was raised in Dixon and Amboy and graduated from Amboy High School in 2005.
He attended Sauk Valley Community College before joining the Air Force, serving 4 years active duty as an airborne Arabic linguist, and deploying to Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he completed 144 combat sorties as military intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
He transferred his service to the Wisconsin Air National Guard, where he’s a technical sergeant (E-6) at the 128th Air Refueling Wing, General Mitchell Air Reserve Base, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Wiggins started his legal career as a criminal prosecutor in the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office and was an assistant state’s attorney for Whiteside County before leaving public law for private practice.
He’s a Democrat raised by Republicans who can show respect to both sides of the political aisle, he said.
“I’m running to revive bipartisan efforts in Springfield, efforts to benefit the majority of the ideological spectrum, to be a strong, impassioned voice for common-sense compromise that pushes us all forward together,” he said last month after a Lee County Democratic Central Committee meeting.
His campaign priorities are to work toward creating jobs in the Interstate 88 corridor, supporting public education, and focusing on resources to combat the opioid crisis.
Wiggins lives in Dixon with his fiance, Dawn, and daughter, Charlie.
The 90th District includes parts of DeKalb, LaSalle, Lee and Ogle counties.
