Warriors, Clippers win on road

The Sterling volleyball team made the road trip to Belvidere and notched a two-set win over Belvidere North in nonconference play on Wednesday, 25-15, 25-22.

Lexi Rodriguez had 18 digs to lead the Golden Warriors. Bree Borum and Grace Gould each had 15.

Bree Borum also had 21 assists, three aces and seven kills, and Rodriguez added 10 assists. Brook Borum had 13 kills, and Grace Egan chipped in seven kills.

With the win, Sterling improves to 24-5.

Amboy def. AFC 25-18, 25-8: The Clippers pulled out a close first set and cruised in the second set in a win at Ashton.

Mallory Powers had eight kills for the Clippers, as well as two aces and two digs. Gabby Jones had 12 assists, Kyleigh Donna had two aces and two digs, Madelyn McLaughlin had two kills, and Brooklyn Whelchel had two blocks.

Camdyn Penick had seven assists and six digs for the Raiders. Callie Shrimplin had 11 digs, Natalie Sondgeroth and three kills and two blocks, and Madison Runkle also had two blocks.
