DIXON – Nearly $27 million in renovations and additions to Dixon High School and Jefferson School will be featured in open houses being held Oct. 26.
Tours will start at 10 a.m. at Jefferson and at 1 p.m. at Dixon High.
At the high school, 45 new geothermal heating and cooling wells were installed, requiring the redesign of the northwest parking lot. Work also was done on masonry, plaster and interior surfaces, as well as stage rigging structures in the auditorium.
A plaque to commemorate the high school renovations will be dedicated.
Repairs to the high school’s north wing and cafeteria also were made, as well as locker room remodels at Lancaster Gymnasium, an update to a life skills classroom, new windows in the athletics wing, and the creation of a new science classroom.
Jefferson has a new gym, geothermal wells and elevator; as well as four new restrooms, three storage rooms, a kitchen and an electrical and mechanical room.
The old gym has been repurposed into a lunch room, and the old cafeteria now is a classroom.
