STERLING – Thomas Cavazos, age 65, of Sterling, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Thomas was born February 3, 1954, in Sterling, the son of Margarito and Tomasa (Hernandez) Cavazos. He was employed as a mechanic, doing small engine repair; as a factory worker; and a painter.
Survivors include seven sisters, Yolanda Cavazos of Sterling, Margarita Galindo of Sterling, Maria Arteaga of Mendota, Andrelita Bryan of Prophetstown, Ida Sliger of Sterling, Rosita (John Canas) of Sterling, and Lala Olivas of Sterling; one brother, Juan Cavazos of Clinton, Iowa; one daughter, Tara Jackley; one grandson, Conner Jackley; and 21 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Margarito, Richard, Valentine, Candalirio, Diego, and Miguel Cavazos.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 505 First Avenue, Sterling. Funeral services will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Reverend Jorge Bravo of St. Mary Catholic Church officiating. A memorial has been established.
