Girls were learning science while having fun Saturday afternoon. Girl Scouts were creating “Rope Runners,” as an activity to learn about balance, mass and center of gravity. They also decorated their creations before trying their luck with the course. A single wheel is in the center of the “Rope Runner” with long arms extending on either side like a tight-rope walker. The finished creations are put on a single rope and roll – or run – down the rope to the finish line. Some dangled, others wobbled and a couple slid off near the finish. But with a few adjustments, all of the “Rope Runners” created made it through the course several times. Visit girlscoutsni.org to learn more about Girl Scouts or to join.
