LYNDON – An afternoon fire completely gutted a garage and caused smoke and heat damage to an adjoining home Thursday.
Lyndon Fire Chief Gerald Armstrong said firefighters were called to 111 First St. E at 4:16 p.m. to battle the blaze that started in the garage and eventually spread to the one-story home, which is owned by Tom Tiesman.
The garage was destroyed, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze as it spread into the house, where it caused smoke and heat damage.
No one was injured, but a cat was killed, Armstrong said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
