FULTON – A longtime florist will be hanging up her clippers at the end of the year to spend more time with family, marking the end to a business that started almost a century ago.
Deb Schaver, 64, of Albany, has been in the floral business for about 4 decades, and has owned Wilson’s Floral & Gifts at 1006 N. Fourth St. since 2009.
The shop, which dates back to 1922 and also offers jewelry, home decor, art, and gifts, is closing Dec. 31.
Schaver said she’s retiring to take care of her father and sister, who are both ill.
“It’s a hard industry anymore, and we just want to spend as much time with my sister and father as we can,” she said.
Everything in the store will be on sale, ranging from 25 percent to 75 percent off.
Wilson’s Floral is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday.
