Kinzinger's fundraising outpacing Dady

As is often the case with an incumbent, U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger's campaign fundraising is far outpacing that of his Democratic opponent in the race for the 16th Congressional District.

With only weeks to go before the Nov. 6 election the Channahon Republican has received $872,398, about four times that of Sara Dady, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Some of Kinzinger's top donations have come from groups such as the Adam Kinzinger Future 1st Committee, and from individual contributors Craig and Janet Duchossois. More than $519,000 came from PACs, while individual contributions totaled about $352,869.

Dady has received $212,995 in total contributions, the commission reports.

She said there have been recent additional contributions that raised that amount to $284,000.

Dady, an immigration attorney from Rockford, said she is on budget for her half-million-dollar campaign fund and is feeling great about her fundraising efforts.

Most of her funds are coming from individual contributions by design and, although it costs money to send mailers and for broadcast ads, face-to-face contact with constituents is critically important, Dady said.

"You need to know what voters in the district really care about," Dady said. "You can't know that if all you do is run TV commercials on what your message is."

Kinzinger has served the 16th – which fellow Republican President Donald Trump carried by more than 17 points – since 2013; he has been in Congress since 2011. In the Sauk valley, the district covers all of Lee, Ogle, and Bureau counties.

He and his campaign staff did not immediately return a request Tuesday for comment.
