LAKE CARROLL – An Iowa family’s search for a weekend escape in Carroll County will be featured at 9 p.m. Monday on HGTV’s “House Hunters.”
The cable-TV show takes viewers behind the scenes as house buyers search for a home. It first aired in 1999 and has spawned more than a dozen spin-offs.
Monday’s episode will feature the Holt family from the Quad-Cities area, who were looking for a vacation home at Lake Carroll to share with their three young daughters.
Lake Carroll is a private, four-season community nestled near a 64-acre lake with access to a host of outdoor activities.
A premiere party to watch the show, titled “Lake House Getaway in Illinois,” begins at 5 p.m. at the Lake Carroll Clubhouse Restaurant, 29-11 Ironwood Drive.
Mike Schmieder, Lake Carroll’s general manager, said the Holts looked at three waterfront homes at different price points in late September and October, and had settled on one, but he’d been asked by HGTV not to reveal which one.
“They were basically looking for a weekend getaway. … They had a budget for the home, toys to go with it, and so on. That’s what led them to make a final decision,” Schmieder said.
