After a long, harsh winter, most of us are ready to head to the out of doors.
“Everybody’s getting out their patio furniture, pools, boat and garden tools. They want to clean them and their houses and garages,” says Chris Kelly, manager of Ace Hardware & Rental, in Dixon, Illinois.
You could always hook up a brush to your garden hose, but there is an easier and more environmentally friendly alternative. “A pressure washer will save you water,” Kelly says. “It uses less water than a garden hose because is produces more pressure per minute, so there’s a nice environmental savings there. Pressure washing is a more efficient way of cleaning, too, so you get the job done faster.”
Ace Hardware offers time- and labor-saving pressure washer attachments, as well, like its extention pole, that lets you wash your whole house without getting on a ladder. “It’s much safer,” says Kelly.
Pressure washers are available in gas-powered or electric. “The electrics are super easy. You just plug them in and go,” says Kelly. Gas-powered units offer more power and portability. “If we know what job someone has we can steer them to the right one to use,” Kelly says.
Ace sells, as well as rents, a variety of pressure washers, and stocks cleaners specifically formulated to be utilized with them for a better sucess rate with getting the job done.
“We also rent a hot-water pressure washer,” Kelly says. “It’s a much bigger unit, but it’s geared more toward industrial use. If you have really dirty or greasy equipment, the hot water helps cut through that and makes it so much more efficient.” Common applications include farm and construction equipment.
Whatever type of pressure washer you try, “If you rent and like the machine and want to buy it, we can get you the exact one, or in a different size,” says Kelly. “There is a multitude of options available in our fleet.”
