Local Community College Offers Terrific Travel Options

SPONSORED

In addition to providing students with excellent education options and career placement assistance, Sauk Valley Community College offers the entire community the chance to experience both day and extended trips as part of the Community Education department's Personal Enrichment Trips and Tours program.

"We offer trips of varying lengths, from one day to over a week long," explained Brenda Helms, Community Education Coordinator for SVCC. "Last year we began partnering with Collette, a travel agency, to offer a variety of extended trips in the U.S. and abroad. In March, we'll take four community members to the Canyon Country in Arizona and Utah for eight days. On March 18, Sauk is hosting a trip preview for the November 2019 trip to Tuscany, Italy, and the April 2020 trip to Ireland."

The purpose of offering trips through SVCC's Community Education department is to give everyone in the community the opportunity to enjoy incredible travel experiences. "Many people prefer to not plan their own vacations," said Helms. "Some feel more comfortable traveling with a group. It's nice partnering with Collette, as they create the travel itineraries and make all the necessary arrangements." Traveler reservations include single, double, and triple options. Sauk travelers will join a larger group at each destination, and together everyone will have the chance to explore and experience the locale.

"Since I came to SVCC in 2014, the number of trips and tours we offer has greatly increased," said Helms. "We find that people are interested in both local and destination travel, so I try to plan different trips every year to satisfy a large variety of interests. Some upcoming day experiences will include trips to Galena, Hamilton Musical in downtown Chicago, Taste of Milwaukee, Chicago River Cruise, and a Chicago Cubs baseball game."
