Skilled Nursing Services Provide Top-Level Care For Morrison and Surrounding Communities

SPONSORED

Skilled Nursing care is appropriate for both short-term rehabilitation patients and for long-term patients needing frequent or 24/7 care for a chronic medical condition.  Skilled Nursing services typically include wound care, IV therapy, physical therapy, and monitoring of vital signs and medical equipment.  This specialized care must be provided by trained personnel, including Registered Nurses and Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapists.

Morrison Community Hospital offers a Professional and Interdisciplinary Skilled Care Team, which works with patients suffering from neurologic diseases, cardiac and respiratory problems, non-healing wounds, and musculoskeletal injuries, among other afflictions.  It also offers skilled care for patients needing intravenous (IV) therapy.  Here are 3 things to know about Skilled Nursing services provided by MCH.

1.  Morrison Community Hospital provides 24-hour, 7 days/week Skilled Nursing care, along with occupational and/or physical rehabilitation services for a minimum of five days each week.  Patients enjoy large, private rooms at MCH.

2.  The purpose of skilled care is to provide specialized services after a hospitalization.  "Our Skilled Nursing services provide a transition for patients who are coming from a hospital stay but aren't ready to go home," said Mick Welding, Marketing Director for MCH.  "The inpatient skilled care visit, which averages approximately two weeks, ensures that the patient will be more confident and ready to do well at home."

3.  Skilled care is covered by most insurances, and by Medicare, as long as skilled services criteria are met.  "Our Social Services Director, Judy Wallace, can assist with the information and filing for insurance, and can answer any questions people may have," added Welding.  "She can be contacted at 815-772-5516."

Morrison Community Hospital offers home safety evaluations prior to discharge, and patients' diets are reviewed by a Registered Dietitian.  For more information about Skilled Nursing services provided by Morrison Community Hospital, please contact:
