DIXON – On May 30, Dixon High School held an awards night to honor students who have achieved in athletics and academics. Fifty-two were recognized in 50 categories.

ROCK FALLS – “Somewhere in Time” will be the theme of the Rock River Area Christian Women’s Club meeting Wednesday.
MANLIUS – Emily Mathew, a graduate of Bureau Valley High School, recently was awarded a $2,000 scholarship through the Shelter Insurance Foundation.
BYRON – Volunteers, ages 16 and older, are needed at the Byron Museum to help hang quilts for the ByronFest Quilt Show. Teams will be guided by experienced quilters to hang the quilt entries on racks as they are checked in.
DIXON – Lawnfest 2013 will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 22 at Grace United Methodist Church.

FORRESTON – The Country Crossroads Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Forreston Grove Church, 7246 Freeport Road.
MOUNT CARROLL – The Rev. Floyd West will be installed as the pastor of First Baptist Church at 9:30 a.m. worship Sunday.
OREGON – Free courses will be available this summer at Rock River Center, 810 S. 10th St., from Kathe Wilson of Oregon Public Library.
STERLING ­ An AARP Driver Safety Class will be from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Thursday at Whiteside County Senior Center. 1207 W. Ninth St.
ROCK FALLS – An Honor Flight information meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Rock Falls American Legion, 712 Fourth Ave.
FULTON – Children age 3 through fifth graders are welcome to attend Athens vacation Bible school. Younger children must be potty-trained to take part.
POLO – Swimming lessons will be offered at the Polo Pool, 303 E. Webster St. The lessons will be at 9, 10, and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.
