The season came to an end for the Oregon girls soccer team with a 2-1 loss to Stillman Valley in the Class 1A Indian Creek Sectional semifinal on Saturday.

Within the Impact Program, high school students who graduate within SVCC’s district, which includes Whiteside, Lee, and parts of Bureau, Ogle, Henry and Carroll counties, can earn their tuition through completing community service hours.

Oregon fell to Stillman Valley 2-1 on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the 1A Indian Creek Sectional.

Newman used a three-run second inning to take the lead, then tacked on two late insurance runs in a 6-2 win over the Rock Falls to win the Class 2A Newman Regional title Saturday, its fourth straight regional title and fifth in the last six seasons – and its first in Class 2A.

Jessalin Johns struck out 14 and got out of bases-loaded jams in the second and seventh innings, and Newman – despite being outhit – beat Putnam County 4-1 in Saturday’s Class 1A Putnam County Regional final.
