Rock Falls man charged with 15 felony counts of sex abuse
STERLING – A Rock Falls man accused of molesting at least two girls was arrested Thursday and charged with 15 felony counts.
Daniel Hale, 20, faces one of count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, which carries 6 to 30 years in prison, and 14 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, each of which carries 3 to 7 years.
He was in Whiteside County Jail on $250,000 bond, and has a court hearing next Thursday.
According to court documents, Hale molested a girl younger than 13 between June and September 2012 by penetrating her with his finger.
The other counts involve a girl between 13 and 17.
A parent told Sterling police on March 29 that Hale might have been having an ongoing sexual relationship with the child, police said in a news release.
Hale is accused of sexually abusing her at least 14 times between November and June, the documents say.
Police also are investigating at least one other incident involving a child between the ages of 13 and 16, Sgt. Steven Hubbard said.
