Play under way at Hubbs Classic
Play began Monday at the 23rd annual Emma Hubbs Tennis Classic at Dixon's Page Park, kicked off by the Tiny Tots and closed out by the 18-and-under mixed doubles.
Brody Nicklaus scored 48 points to take the Tiny Tots division, just ahead of runner-up Karlyanna Tate (44 points). Jameson Ryan's 73 points easily took the 6-8 division title.
Jack Nitz won 40 games to take the 15 boys singles bracket, nine more than runner-up Sam Bratt (31).
Daniel Ferguson and Jonathan Rivera teamed up to take the 13 boys doubles division, winning 27 games to beat runners-up Qun=inten Hoyle and Jason Rohn by seven.
In 18 mixed doubles play, Mary Alice Oswalt and Andrew Schmitt won 28 games to take the title. Erin Vits and K.C. Knack won 24 games to slip past Jessica VanOosten and Michael Gale for second.
Play continues today with five more divisions at the Emma Hubbs Tennis Courts, starting at 9 a.m.
