OREGON – A new online registration system is up and running in the Oregon School District.

It uses the existing logins and passwords parents now use to check grades, absent days, and lunch payments.

“The new registration system will save time,” Assistant Superintendent Adam Larsen said. “At registration, parents had to wait in line and then fill out paperwork.”

Before, registration was done in person over a 2-day period in Oregon Elementary School. Duplicate information for families with more than one child had to be written on the form each time.

“The new system already has the student’s name, address, and contact information,” Larsen said. “All parents need to do is verify the information is correct.”

Having all the information in the computer database can help prevent errors.

“Before, the staff had to enter the information parents provided,” he said. “Now parents are making sure the information is exact.”

Registration payments also can be made online using PayPal, or parents can check a box indicating they’ll send a check to the school office.

Fees will have to be paid per child – “the system has not been set up for one payment per family” – and physicals and immunization records still must be brought to the school.

One benefit for the system is the school district employees will know immediately if families have not registered for the 2013-2014 school year.

Because this is the initial rollout of online registration, two dates are available for parents to come in and use the school computers to register: from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Etnyre Wing Library of Oregon Elementary School.

Registrations submitted after Aug. 1 will incur a $25 late fee.
