'Romeo & Juliet'
STERLING – Woodlawn Arts Academy and Sauk Valley Community College’s Theater Department present “Romeo & Juliet” at 6:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday on the back lawn of Woodlawn Arts Academy, 3807 Woodlawn Road. Bring a chair or a blanket and snacks if you like.
The academy also offers a 2-hour, $10 children's Shakespeare camp during each performance. Students will learn about the bard, “Romeo & Juliet,” and theater, and will create their own performance for parents to watch after the play.

WWII in Dixon
DIXON – An authentic World War II reenactment camp featuring daily battle simulations with U.S. and German troops, armored vehicle displays, weapons and uniform demonstrations and a military collectibles sale, is pitching its tents in Elks Page Park.
"WWII Recreated" runs from 5 to 8 p.m. today, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 7883 S. Lowell Park Road. Admission is $10 per car. There will be a tribute to World War II veterans, who will be admitted free of charge.

Art sales this weekend
Well-known Grand Detour artist Beverly Garcia will be selling more than 200 of her works from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at her home at Broad and Green streets. Proceeds benefit Sinnissippi Foundation, which supports Sinnissippi Centers' mental health and wellness programs.

If your walls still are bare, the 15th annual Fields Project Art Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mix Park in Oregon. Admission is free; concessions will be sold, and the Jim Vancko Trio will perform.

Beer, wine and music
DIXON – The Dixon Beer and Wine Festival, for those 21 and older, offers beer and wine tastings from 5 to 9 p.m., followed by music by Remembering Alice, Saturday along the Riverfront.
Tickets are $15 and include 12 sample tickets if bought by today at The Crystal Cork or Treins Jewelry, or 10 tickets at the gate. The include a commemorative beer or wine glass while they last.
Tickets to hear the band only are available at 10 p.m. for $3.

Pet Fest poker run
DIXON – A poker run to benefit the nonprofit Petunia Festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Porky's Bar and Grill.
All vehicles are welcome. Participants can register in advance at Porky's, 1315 E. River Road, or The Last Stop, 1914 Lowell Park Road. Registration also will be from 10 a.m. to noon day of at Porky's. The cost is $20 per person, $30 per couple, and $35 per family.
There will be a Bloody Mary bar and biscuits and gravy at Porky's before the run starts. The last vehicle is due in at 5 p.m. at The Last Stop, where there will be goodie bags, a door prize drawing, and a cash prize for the best poker hand.
