Nine guns, ammo, marijuana plants found in Dixon man's home
DIXON – Police found nine guns, ammunition and marijuana plants in the home of a Dixon man when they searched it around 5 p.m. Monday with agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Whiteside County Sheriff's Department, Dixon police said in a news release.
Jeramie James Burmeister, 32, formerly of Ardmore, Okla., is charged with two counts of unlawful use of weapons, two counts of unlawful use of firearm projectiles, possession of firearm ammunition without a firearm owner identification card, possession of firearm without a FOID card, and producing fewer than five marijuana plants.
Police also found homemade silencers, which are illegal in Illinois, on several weapons, and homemade flechettes, the release said. Flechettes look like little arrows, or darts; they are packed in shells and spread out when shot, like shotgun pellets.
All of the items were found in a travel trailer on the property in the 500 block of South Lincoln Avenue, the release said.
Burmeister was taken to Lee County Jail, where he awaits a bond hearing.
No further information was available this morning.
