Wiersema powers Fillies

Allie Wiersema and Chelsea Eads both hit home runs for the Morrison Fillies, who traveled to Amboy and beat the Clippers 13-1 in five innings in a Three Rivers game Thursday.

Wiersema added an RBI double to her grand slam, finishing with five RBIs, and Eads drove in three runs for the Fillies (15-3, 11-1). Lauren Pannier allowed only one hit, picking up the win in the circle with four strikeouts and and no walks.

Brooke Lovgren hit a solo home run for Amboy (11-6, 7-6).

Geneseo 7, Dixon 5: Trailing 7-0 after four innings, the Duchesses rallied for five runs in the next two frames before falling short in a NIB-12 West game at Reynolds Field.

Kari Wolfe had two hits and two RBIs, and Brooke Bailey had two hits and drove in a run for Dixon. Haley Fitzsimmons singled and doubled, and Erin Smith and Rachel Musser added RBIs for Dixon.

Beccah Jones (3-6) took the loss, and Smith pitched three innings of scoreless relief.

Kewanee 4, Newman 2: Laura Turnroth struck out eight in a four-hitter, but the Comets couldn’t claim a Three Rivers win at home.

Mary Alice Oswalt had three hits, Sarah Trujillo added two hits and an RBI, and Jaimie Hurd also drove in a run for Newman. Stacia Walter singled and doubled.

BV sweeps Fulton: The Storm won a pair of Three Rivers games on the road, beating the Steamers 6-4 and 9-2.

Ashley Phillips had four hits and three RBIs in the twin bill for Bureau Valley. Irini Petros drove in two runs in the opener, Darcy Kepner had three RBIs in the nightcap, and Brandi DeWaele had four hits and three RBIs in the two games.

Rachel McDonnell had two RBIs in the opener for Fulton (4-9, 1-9), which managed just one hit off Petros in the nightcap. Kepner won the opener for BV.

Durand 8, AFC 3: The Raiders (2-11, 1-9) were limited to two hits in an NUIC East loss in Ashton.

Cassidy Koning allowed 11 hits and eight runs (two earned), with four strikeouts and a walk.


Ottawa 3, Dixon 0: Carly Hartle
made seven saves, but the
Duchesses were blanked in a Northern Illinois Big 12 West match in Ottawa.

Dixon (4-6-2, 2-4-1) dealt with two half-hour lightning delays in the first half, but still created several scoring chances against the Ottawa (9-5-0, 2-4-0) defense.
