Sterling police, firefighters, and CGH Medical Center paramedics respond to an accident involving a Whiteside County Transportation bus about 8:10 a.m. Monday. According to police, the bus was southbound in the 1100 block of Sixth Avenue when a northbound, maroon or dark red, newer-model passenger car crossed the center line, forcing the bus to swerve, sideswiping one utility pole and hitting another head-on. Driver David B. Sigel, 72, of Sterling, and his only passenger were treated at CGH for minor injuries. Police are asking anyone with information on the maroon car to call them, 815-632-6640 or Crime Stoppers, 815-625-7876. (Philip Marruffo/pmarruffo@saukva)
