Girls basketball roundup: Newman, Amboy, Erie pick up TRAC wins
Sam Lambrigtsen’s 22 points paced a balanced attack for the Oregon Hawks on Saturday in a 60-45 nonconference win over Serena at the Blackhawk Center.
Also for Oregon (15-4), Devyn Absher had 15 points.
Newman 72, Bureau Valley 30: Hannah Erickson and Bree deLong both scored 13 points to lead the Comets in Sterling.
Aubree Schmitt added eight assists and four rebounds for
Newman (11-7, 7-1 Three Rivers).
For the Storm (1-17, 0-5), Heaven Bennett scored seven points.
Amboy 36, Morrison 33: Kaitlyn Liebing scored 12 points to lead the Clippers in Morrison.
Also for Amboy (8-7, 2-4 Three Rivers), Brooke Lovgren had 10 points.
For Morrison (2-14, 1-6), Chelsea Eads scored 14 points.
Erie 44, Kewanee 39: Courtney Cobert and Laykin Miner each scored 13 points to lead the Cardinals past the visiting Boilermakers.
Cobert and Miner also combined for 16 rebounds for Erie (13-5, 4-3 Three Rivers).
Eastland 66, West Carroll 35: Nine Cougars scored at least four points in an NUIC West game in Savannah.
Courtney Walker hit three 3s and led Eastland (14-6, 3-1) with 17 points. Kaylee Vos led West Carroll (3-11, 0-4) with 17 points.
Polo 29, Milledgeville 26: Aleetra Roberts had 11 points, eight rebounds and two steals to lead the Marcos on the road.
Also for Polo (4-11, 3-3 NUIC East), Kelsey Taylor had eight steals.
Carli Hunter paced Milledgeville (2-12, 1-5) with seven points.
Prince of Peace 52, Fulton 38: Morgan Sanquist had 10 points for the Steamers (6-14) in a home loss to a nonconference foe from Clinton, Iowa.
Aquin 53, AFC 28: Haley Chang scored 12 points for the Bulldogs (17-2, 5-1 NUIC East) in a win over the Raiders in Freeport.
For AFC (6-8, 0-6), Sarah Matson had 12 points.
Faith Christian 49, Fulton Unity 29: Tressa Schuler scored 12 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, collected five steals and blocked two shots for the Falcons in Fulton.
Girls bowling
Dixon seventh at Sycamore: Devan Gearhart and Autumn Day each had series totals of 1,191, as the Duchesses finished seventh at the 12-team Sycamore Invite.
Dixon had a total pinfall of 5,231. Oswego East won with 5,974.
