Another phony bomb threat empties school

MORRISON – A phony bomb threat shortly after 9 a.m. Monday forced the evacuation of Morrison High School.

It’s the second such threat in less than a month, and the seventh since June 2011.

The school evacuated about 9:05 a.m. after the threat was reported to police.

There was no evidence it was a legitimate threat, Police Chief Brian Melton said in a news release. He declined to release more information.

Classes resumed later Monday morning.

Similar threats were reported Nov. 6, Feb. 21, and Sept. 11, and April 8 and 29 and June 7 last year. Two teen boys were determined to have made some of them, police have said.

Anyone with information on Monday’s threat is asked to call Morrison police at 815-772-7659 or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 877-625-7867.

Crime Stoppers offers a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Callers will remain anonymous.
