TATTOOING CASE: Christopher S. Brown, 19, of Amboy; charged with two counts of tattooing a minor, a misdemeanor. Police say Brown, a registered sex offender, gave tattoos to two 16-year-old girls on Aug. 17 without a license.
On the docket: Pretrial conference, during which the judge and attorneys will discuss matters concerning the case and set a trial schedule.
RECKLESS DISCHARGE CASE: Daniel M. Cornelius, 33, of Dixon; charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. Police say Cornelius shot a 12-gauge shotgun in the air after confronting a newspaper carrier on Aug. 14.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY CASE: Susan E. Emmole, 43, of Dixon; charged with residential burglary. Police say Emmole stole cash, coins, and watches from a home on the northeast side of Dixon on Aug. 9.

BATTERY OF A CHILD CASE: Tiffany D. Fassler, 36, of Dixon; charged with aggravated battery of a child. Police say she kicked her then 6-year-old stepson in the chest on Dec. 30, 2010, causing him to hit his head on a bathroom vanity and causing serious brain damage. The boy died nearly a year later.

MARIJUANA/PARAPHERNALIA CASE: Dustin L. Jones, 30, of Dixon; charged with possession with intent to deliver 500 to 2,000 grams of marijuana, possession of 500 to 2,000 grams of marijuana, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say a search of his Chicago Avenue home on Oct. 21 turned up nearly 3 pounds of marijuana, smoking pipes, and guns.

DEFAMATION LAWSUIT: Former Dixon School District varsity boys basketball coach and athletic director Steve Sandholm filed a defamation lawsuit in March 2008 against nine players’ parents; NRG Media, the parent company of local radio station WIXN; and the station’s general manager. It was dismissed July 2009 and reinstated in January by the Illinois Supreme Court.
On the docket: Decision on defendants’ motion to dismiss the lawsuit.

SEX ABUSE/SEX ASSAULT CASE: Douglas P. Delhotal, 53, of Dixon; charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault and six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Police say he molested a 13-year-old girl several times between November 2009 and January 2010.

CHILD BATTERY CASE: Eric L. Ellis, 28, of Dixon; charged with aggravated battery of a child and aggravated domestic battery. Police say Ellis punched a 2-year-old girl once in the stomach on Aug. 2. Her injury required surgery for a perforated bowel.

SEX ASSAULT CASE: Russell A. Frey, 36, of Dixon; charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. Police say Frey had sex with a 12-year-old girl in late January and in February.

BATTERY/INVOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER CASE: Charles T. George, 34, of Dixon; charged with two counts of aggravated battery of a child, aggravated domestic battery, and involuntary manslaughter. Police say George shook his 3-month-old daughter,Tamari, in September 2010. The girl died several days later from blunt-force trauma to the head.

HOME INVASION CASE: David A. Jones, 37, of Dixon; charged with home invasion and criminal trespass to a residence and misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property. Police say Jones went into a Dixon home through an unlocked window on July 28, found an ax and chopped through a door after people inside had locked themselves in another room.

HOME INVASION/RAPE CASE: Jeffrey K. Mischler, 27, of Hinckley; charged with home invasion and criminal sexual assault. Police say Mischler broke into a Dixon woman’s house on May 26, 2011, and raped her while she was passed out after a night of drinking.

COCAINE CASE: Laurie L. Moser, 50, of Dixon; charged with possession of cocaine. Police say a search of her Chicago Avenue home on Oct. 21 turned up nearly 3 pounds of marijuana, about a gram of cocaine, smoking pipes and guns, according to police. Police say the cocaine belonged to Moser and the other items belonged to her son, Dustin L. Jones, 29.

CHILD PORN CASE: Ronald N. Osborn, 61, of rural Dixon; charged with six counts of aggravated child pornography. Police say a search of Osborn’s computer on June 13 turned up multiple images of child pornography.

DOMESTIC BATTERY CASE: Moses D. Spears, 27, of Dixon; charged with aggravated domestic battery, felony and misdemeanor domestic battery, and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Police say Spears hit and choked his girlfriend on March 1, and when she tried to call police, he grabbed the phone.

MURDER CASE: Matthew W. Welling, 32, of Amboy; charged with first-degree murder and two counts of home invasion. Police say Welling pushed his way into the home of Delmar Leroy Daniels, 79, and killed him during a struggle.
