Dixon High School students will go back in time to the 1890s, when newspaper hawkers were on every street corner in New York City. Students will take the stage today to perform the Broadway musical “Newsies.” The tagline for the show is “they delivered the papers, until they made the headlines …” The story features children going on strike, preventing the news from reaching the streets which caused tension between the publishers and the hawkers. The show is performed at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium, 300 Lincoln Statue Drive. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $3 for students and children, and will be on sale 1 hour before each show. Call 815-284-7723 for more information.
