Their cabin fever finally broke Friday when St. Anne School students in Dixon headed outside for a game of hockey. Kids in the P.E. class took advantage of the long-awaited break from a brutal winter to grab some fresh air, and hockey sticks. Temperatures inched above 40 on Friday, a big difference from the days when the mercury plummeted to nearly 40 below. Highs between Saturday and Tuesday are expected to hover near 40, before a heat wave Wednesday sends the temperature up to just under 60. After that, it’s back into the 40s through next weekend. Normal highs for this time of year average in the low- to mid-40s.
