'Shrek' the musical will be performed
Once upon a time a movie was created that mixed and blended dozens of classic fairy tale characters. Out of this mix a green ogre named Shrek emerged to tell his comedic tale. Shrek lives in a swamp in peace before several fairy tale character refugees arrive. The characters are fleeing the kingdom of Duloc – which is ruled by Lord Farquaad who hates fairy tale creatures. He has no royal blood and wants to marry a princess. Shrek saves a donkey named Donkey from Farquaad's guards and reluctantly Shrek has a sidekick for the remainder of the story. The pair go on a journey and along the way meet several familiar characters including Fiona and the Gingerbread Man (Gingy). Students at Amboy High School will be performing a musical version of 'Shrek' at the school, 11 E. Hawley St., Shows are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday with a 2 p.m. show on Sunday.
