Riders take to the rural roads for a scenic ride
It was time for some pedal power Saturday morning as hundreds of bicyclists propelled their way up and down the rolling hillsides of Ogle and Lee counties. They were participating in the third annual Tour of Scenic Ogle County (TOSOC) bike ride. The ride, a fundraiser for the Village of Progress in Oregon, saw more than 400 cyclists hit the roads on a brisk fall morning. Riders choose between a 10-mile ride through Oregon, or a longer 32- or 62-mile route that went from Oregon to Grand Detour and past the Nachusa Grasslands. As a special treat, riders could add an optional 2 mile ride and visit John Barnhart's Stone Corner Farm, where a vast collection of vintage bicycles were on display. For more information about the ride find TOSOC Bike Ride on Facebook.
