Rock River cleanup
About 50 volunteers donned Rock River Sweep T-shirts and gloves June 27, picking up trash along the river from Carnation Park, north to the Paddlewheel Inn.
They worked their way along the river's bank picking up cigarette butts, cans, fishing string, and other articles of trash.
The event was organized by Forward Oregon, a recently formed not-for-profit community revitalization group, and was held in conjunction with National River Cleanup, sponsored by American Rivers.
Forward Oregon plans to make this an annual event.
