Area airmen complete course

Air Force Airmen Dallas Z. Rivera and Darrion A. Hoard and Airman 1st Class Kristen E. Hingstrum graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.

The airmen completed an intensive, 8-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate’s degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Rivera is the son of Christina L. and David S. Rivera of Byron. He is a 2013 graduate of Byron High School.

Hoard is the son of Tiffany I. Hoard-Riley and Alex Riley of Dixon. He is a 2012 graduate of Mount Carmel High School in Chicago.

Hingstrum, the daughter of Shawn Hingstrum of Orion and Robert and Kris Hingstrum of Fulton, earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is a 2005 graduate of Orion High School in Orion and a 2009 graduate of St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Ind. 

Sterling native earns promotion

Tina M. Guay earned the rank of master sergeant in the Air Force.

Guay, a 15-year service member, serves as a noncomissioned officer in charge of C4 Plans and Agreements with 31st Communications Squadron, Aviano Air Base in Italy.

Guay is the daughter of Richard E. Ulve and the mother of Savian D. Hernandez, both of Dixon. She is a 1998 graduate of Sterling High School and a 2010 graduate of the Community College of the Air Force at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.
