Activities on tap at forest preserve

BYRON – November programs are planned at the Jarrett Center of the Byron Forest Preserve, 7993 N. River Road. All ages are welcome unless otherwise stated.

■ Trips are scheduled to the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn. The first is from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, with registration due by Friday. The second is from Dec. 8 to 10, with registrations turned in by Nov. 23. The cost is $395 and includes transportation and lodging.

■ Visit museums: A trip to the Chicago Art Museum will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 3. The cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple. Register by Nov. 30. The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago trip will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 12. The cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple. Register by Dec. 10.

■ A program for the Boy Scout Soil and Water Conservation Badge will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20. The cost is $9. Register by Nov. 19.

■ A hunter safety course will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 and 5, and from 6 to 10 p.m. Dec. 7, at the center.

All hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1980, are required by state law to complete the course before receiving their first hunting license. Those participating should provide their Social Security number at the time of the class.
