Mark Soles, 52, 316 Chestnut St. Apt. 4, is charged with burglary and escape, each punishable by 3 to 7 years in prison. Bond was set Monday at $150,000. His preliminary hearing is Dec. 2. According to court documents, the sheriff’s department received a call about 3:15 a.m. Saturday from a Peru Street resident who saw a man looking through a neighbor’s garage with a flashlight. A deputy found Soles, with a flashlight in his back pocket, hiding under a truck at the home, according to court documents. He was handcuffed and put him in the back of a squad car, and while the deputy talked to the homeowner and a neighbor, Soles pried open a window and escaped, Sheriff John Varga said. He was caught a few hours later at the home of an acquaintance, still in handcuffs. Comments
