STERLING – Police are still tracking down leads and talking to people who may have witnessed a shooting early Friday in a Sterling home, according to Sterling Police Detective J.D. Sanders.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released during the pending investigation, was taken by ambulance to a Rockford Hospital early Friday. According to police, the man’s injuries are not life-threatening.

At this point, police are not releasing any information about the case. Sanders declined to say whether a gun was recovered.

Police were called around 2:30 a.m. Friday by staff at CGH Medical Center, who reported that a man had been brought to the hospital by friends after being shot.

Police later went to the man’s house, which is located on the east end of town, where he was allegedly shot.

If you have any information regarding the incident, call the Sterling Police Department at 815-632-6640 or the Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 815-626-7867.
