Ill. Senate candidate Kirk sought Palin supportBy The Associated PressCHICAGO (AP) — Senate candidate Mark Kirk sought support from Sarah Palin as he faces criticism from more conservative Republicans in Illinois. A memo from Kirk to a Palin friend and adviser says he wanted Palin to say something "quick and decisive" when she's in Chicago later this month. The former vice presidential candidate will appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to promote her new book. The Kirk memo says the media will focus on whether she opposes his bid for President Obama's former Senate seat. Kirk serves in the U.S. House. He has found himself at odds with the right over abortion, environmental legislation and more. Kirk spokesman Eric Elk said they gave Palin's team talking points about the suburban Chicago congressman and only requested "supportive comments." Comments
