
Jim Ryan to run for Illinois governorBy The Associated PressSPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Former Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan will file candidacy petitions to run for the Republican nomination for governor. Ryan's campaign issued a news release Sunday stating that he would file the petitions Monday and follow up the filing with a candidacy announcement on Tuesday in Springfield. Ryan had previously said he planned to file his petitions on the last day of filing. According to the release, Ryan will announce his candidacy Tuesday on the state Capitol grounds with family and friends in attendance. Ryan lost to ousted former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich in the 2002 governor's race. Ryan has since taught at Benedictine University in the Chicago suburb of Lisle. Comments
